Our Story

From Saigon, 1967. Rebuilt by hand.

My grandfather opened Vinh Sang in Saigon in 1967. He was a craftsman — the store wasn't just a business, it was an expression of what he could make with his hands. Vinh Sang means glory. Better tomorrow. He chose that name on purpose.

The Vietnam War changed everything. When the government began confiscating gold and precious metals, he didn't stop. He worked with what was left — sterling silver, alternative materials — because he believed that beauty shouldn't require permission. That people deserved something to carry with them, regardless of what was being taken away.

The store closed in 1979. The war made sure of that.

But he kept working. In the basement. At a bench, with a torch, and whatever he had. I remember being a kid, sitting next to him while he worked. He was tired — tired in the way that only comes from decades of making things with your hands. So he'd ask me to work the step pump for him. To keep the air moving to the torch. To keep the flame alive while he shaped the metal.

I didn't understand then what I was part of. I was just a kid pumping air in a basement. But the flame stayed lit.

The knowledge never left the family — passed down through hands, not books. How to read a stone. How a piece should feel. What makes something last. What it means to make something worth keeping.

I'm rebuilding Vinh Sang because I have to. To honor him. To prove that what war took can be made again. To bring something real to a community that deserves more than what the market usually offers them. It's complicated and personal — which is exactly why it belongs in jewelry.

Today, Vinh Sang is built on the same foundation: materials chosen with care, pieces made with intention, and a standard we hold ourselves to because this name means something to us.

Every piece of jadeite is hand-selected by our family and screened for natural texture. Every bail is spot-welded in house. Every chain is plated by us, to a thickness that outlasts the industry standard. We sell complete sets because we want you to wear it exactly as we imagined it — nothing left to chance.

We don't make jewelry to fill a drawer. We make it to be worn every day, for years, until it belongs to someone else.

I'm not making what my grandfather made. I'm making what he taught me to care about — craft, honesty, materials that mean something — filtered through who I am now. Someone who grew up between two worlds and stopped trying to choose. Vinh Sang is what gets made in that space.

Bảo Vệ — Protection. Worn quietly, every day. The circle that carries you.

Phồn Vinh — Prosperity. The shape that moves with you. Longevity worn close.

Vinh Sang — Glory. Better tomorrow. The name chosen in 1967. Still ours.
